The UIA announces the launch of an international call for ideas

The UIA announces the launch of an international call for ideas, open to architects all over the world for the occasion of the UIA Congress in Durban (3-6 August 2014).

Objective

The objective is to collect simple and unpublished ideas, dreams and utopias, located “elsewhere” and conceived “otherwise,” which can foster happiness between citizens. The participants should express their concepts through drawings, photos and texts.

Terms of participation

The competition is open to architects affiliated with one of the UIA Member Sections. There is no enrolment fee. English is the language of the competition. The Secretariat of the competition will be managed by the Chamber of Architects of Turkey and by the UIA Region 2.

Jury composition

The jury is composed of Ms Deniz Incedayi (Turkey) andMr. Antonio Riverso (Italy) UIA Vice-Presidents, Ms Fani Vavili, President of the UIA Hellenic Section, Mr. Şerban Tiganas, President of the Order of Architects of Romania,Nikos Fintikakis (Greece), UIA Council Member, Frédéric Ragot President of the International Council of French Architects (CIAF), Lorenz Braker, President of the Swiss Society of Architects and Engineers (SIA). Jerzy Grochukski(Poland) and Fabian Llisterri (Spain) UIA Council Members will both be deputies.

Main competition dates

  • Deadline for ideas submissions by the organisers:
    10 May 2014
  • Announcement of results:
    12 May 2014
  • Exhibition and awards ceremony in Durban:
    3-7 August 2014

Exhibition

The results will be exhibited during Durban Congress where the  award ceremomy and a discussion between the winners,  jury members and congress’ delegates will be held.
