SACAP – From the desk of the Registrar

Dear Registered Persons – Professionals and Candidates

My name is Marella O’Reilly and I would like to introduce myself to you as the new Registrar of the Council effective 10 March 2014.  This introductory letter took a while in coming to you, as my first 90 days in office has been filled with many urgent and important activities, which has set the tone for the next term.

My background is varied and I hold qualifications in Education, Commerce and a MBL, with a special interest in Regulatory Frameworks.

I am passionate about Regulation to that end, I am engaged in my Doctoral studies in Regulatory Frameworks, therefore I am ideally suited to turn SACAP around and raise the standard from within to grow the profession towards professional excellence.

My aim in writing personally to you is to open a direct line of communications with the RPs and make the Council more accessible to the public.  Over the last few months our offices have been transformed into a more economical cost effective and modern space.

There are many new efficient ideas that I will be bringing to you the registered professional to regain the prestige of the profession.  I am requesting your assistance to build the image of the architectural profession and place this noble profession at the forefront of the built environment.  We need to be the advocates in the public space showing the importance and benefits of dealing with a Registered Professional.

I look forward to regular communication through this medium with you. Please feel free to communicate with me on email : registrar@sacapsa.co.za or through the contact us section of the SACAP websitewww.sacapsa.org.za

Sincerely
