MOSES MABHIDA STATION

Isaiah Ntshangase Road, Stamford Hill, Durban, South Africa
The station was designed to assist the commuter traffic to and from the new Moses Mabhida Stadium at the time of the World Cup 2010. The station provides a link between the rail tracks and the overhead vehicular bridge of Isaiah Ntshangase road. The building stands on stilts at the same level of the vehicular bridge and funnels commuters across the tracks to the platforms below. The architecture is shaped by the understanding of public spaces and materials, by volumes commensurate with commuter movement and good levels of lighting.
